Washington is broken…there is simply no argument to support any other theory. If you don't want to believe this, just click on the photo of the U.S. Debt Clock below...it will open in real time and it is staggering.
I just had to share these quotes as I believe they are so apropos:
“Time is running out on the fiscal policies which were initiated when our national debt was a small fraction of what it is today and which may have been expedient during the war but in present circumstances involve dangers so great as to demand that no further compromise with sound fiscal practice be tolerated”
“The first step in debt is like the first step in falsehood, involving the necessity of going on in the same course, debt following debt, as lie follows lie”
“Debt is the slavery of the free”

Those debt clocks are always scary to see. Without getting political I can leave no further comment.
I've stopped contacting my representatives. They don't respond or if they do it's a form letter that isn't responding to the issues I raised. I think they think I'm a fool. I contact my representatives by voting them out of office.
It's a shameful reminder how much debt we are passing on to our children and our childrens children. Tax cuts and the recent debt ceiling increase along with more spending that we will add to the national debt (again) just goes to show how little our representatives care about fiscal resposibility. Just business as usual.
THey do not listen and then once contacted they contact you back for $$$ for their campaign. It truly is scary!
I know it's bad... and the clock just keeps racking it up! A compelling visual reminder. Should I say thanks... or thanks a lot???
Lisa when it comes to pointing fingers at who is responsible for the debt, voters who keep on voting the same people back to Washington do not have to look any further then themselves. If you keep on voting the same people in, the results will be the same!!!
I know what you mean Nick & Trudy Vandekar, 610-203-4543 but it is fairly safe to say that the majority of the politicians have done this to us...on both sides of the aisle!
True Nina Hollander we need term limits and get rid of those in Washington that have sold us down the river for so many decades.
Well Debe Maxwell, CRS they don't have to follow the rules that they vote in for the rest of us now, do they?!!
Very true Yolanda Cordova-Gilbert we can't let this continue!
I am sorry Carol Williams I did say that it wasn't a Friday Funny
So true George Souto we need to clean the swamp an put term limits in place!
Good morning, Lisa... I so agree... but the problem is that they would need to vote in their own term limits and I don't see that happening.
Good morning again Lisa. I have enough stress in my life without the National Debt. :)
I believe in the Dave Ramsey principles. Don't spend what you don't have. The government could take some valuable lessons from that.
It unnerves me to see that debt clock. I start getting my SS check next month and have always wondered if they would run out of money before I got anything back. While going through the application process I was told I had paid in almost a half million between SS and Medicare and I am not yet finished since I have no plans to retire for a few years. So much goes overseas and to interest. We have dug a big hole.
The latest "tax reform" by the republicans only accelerated the debt ceiling forward. I remember whe that was the party if fiscal conservatism and it was the democrats who were the big spenders. Deficits do matter.
They would try Nina Hollander still not sure why they are not tied to the same limits the President's office is!!
I am sorry Sheila Anderson I should have put a warning in the post to maybe not click on the link!
I am happy to know that you will be getting some of our money back Debbie Reynolds
as I don't believe mine will be there when it's time for me to receive benefits.
Defiticts do matter indeed Joe Pryor but I believe that most politicians are liars and there are not true Democrats or Republicans anymore...they are all only in it to win for themselves.
