One of my favorite things about Spring is having our beautiful Texas Bluebonnets in full bloom once again. We have had ample rain fall for Spring so far, these little flowers are coming up strong and fields of brilliant blue color are everywhere. They do not last for long, though, so we also have a number of cars pulled over at hillsides with busy photo enthusiasts taking family photos amidst the blooms.
The Texas Bluebonnet is an annual native to Texas, and our State Flower. It thrives in full sunlight in gravelly, well-drained soil. These factors are why it is most commonly seen on hillsides along roadways or pastures that are uncultivated. They are easy to grow from seed with these factors taken into account when planting. So you can have your own Bluebonnet garden to enjoy each and every year.

Lisa- you just brought a big smile to this Texan's face! Thank you because at this time of year I look forward to the Texas Bluebonnets, Azaleas and Dogwoods.
I saw some today in Clarksville. It was raining and they were still standing tall.
Thank you for sharing the beautiful field of Texas bluebonnets with us.
Lisa I had no idea and what an awesome photo, now I will look and I suspect I have seen a few in my part of the world but had no idea that it was the Texas State Flower, Endre
How beautiful is this, Lisa? My first "introduction" to these blue bonnets was when Lady Bird Johnson began her beautification campaign so many decades ago.
Oh my gosh, would love to see these fields of flowers in person one day. Just love fields of any kind of wildflower. D
Lisa,
I am going to San Antonio Tuesday and I hope they are still on the roads when I go! Have a great weekend!
