In June I wrote a post about one of my favorite networking techniques and it was all about shopping (click here to read that post). Today I had the great fun of doing some networking shopping for purses and it was a wonderful Win-Win as Dillard's Department Stores is hosting a trade-in event that will donate purses to local charities (the event is for both purses and watches). Needless to say, there were a number of handbags that are now in the hands (well, on the arms) of many in my purse network...and yes, a few found their way into my collection as well! A matching number of wonderful purses were donated, that I believe will be of great delight to the eventual recipients. The Dillard's event continues through the 23rd, you can check with your local store to see if they are participating in the campaign.

My purse is ready for a trade-in, although when I am ready to get rid of my current purse, it is usually ready for the dump!!
Lynnea Miller I can highly recommend the selection at Dillards. If you have one of their stores near you, I know you will find one (or more) that you'll love!
Lisa Von Domek - Dillards is no where near us.
Lisa, I remember that post and I say it again, this is just an excuse to go shopping it is not really networking:)) now with that said I can use a new purse:)Endre
Morning Lisa.
Sorry, I don't carry a purse, I do have a couple of old wallets that I can donate. Will that work?
Hi Lisa... now I need to check my local Dillards (where truthfully, I never shop), but this sounds like fun!
Hello Lisa --- shopping or networking? Hmm. Definitely perspective seems to be a part of this picture.
Uh oh....this sounds like a dangerous "don't get me started" post for me...but a wonderful give back !
Good morning Lisa. This post cannot be viewed by my wife! Enjoy your day!
good morning Lisa. This is a wonderful idea and keeps things circulating and used.
Lisa Von Domek - Yes! I remember your previous blog post on this subject. Good for you for participating and getting a new bag yourself! I had to laugh at Wayne Martin comment. But I would add to ease Wayne's mind, as long as your wife comes home with the purse and the money you're okay. It's when she takes her purse and the money and doesn't return that's when you have to worry!
Now Endre Barath, Jr. how can you say such a thing?!! I am going to have to talk to Diane about this attitude of yours...LOL
What color shall I shop for your new purse in?
James Dray they welcome wallets and I am sure your wife could have a lot of fun at this event!
It was a lot of fun Nina Hollander and they had some really lovely purses being donated. Go and enjoy!
It was all networking Michael Jacobs honest, I promise, I would never just "shop"! LOL
And, my BFF Debe Maxwell, CRS will vouch for me!!! You will vouch for me, won't you Debe?
It is a slippery slope when you are in the midst of all of the gorgeous purses and briefcases Sally K. & David L. Hanson but it's a great win-win so I had to go!
Wayne Martin you have to tell your lovely bride about this event...you just have to!!
That's what I loved about this event Sheila Anderson the donated bags were all gorgeous and looked like new ones and the owners got to do some retail therapy for the donation!
So true Patricia Feager this could be a dangerous event for true "shopaholics" though!
I checked, Lisa... nothing happening at my end of the world with Dillards.
Nina Hollander oh, what a shame...maybe it is just the Dallas area or Texas state wide Dillards that are running this promotion.
Hi Lisa... I thought I saw this event in some other states at Dillards but at different times of the year.
Maybe they go state-by-state Nina Hollander or maybe Texans are just the biggest "givers" so we stand alone on this promotion! (wink, wink, giggle).
We had a Realtor Fundraiser Event called Handbags for Hope. There were hundreds of purses donated and I donated 25. Some were brand new with tags.
Of COURSE I'll vouch for you, doll! You were shopping for me, among many!
As to this post - I absolutely love the cause and it's so worth a trip to Dillard's with your old handbags & watches in-hand!
I have to say, I don't know that my Brahmins would ever make it to the trade-in - they never seem to go out of style and they always look as good as the day I (or YOU!!!) bought them!
HI Lisa Von Domek - What a great event to participate in. A girl can always use another purse.....and of course a pair of shoes!
Howdy Lisa Von Domek what a great way to network and pick up some fashion accessories to carry all your stuff. Hope you're doing great this Sunday and not watching too much football.
Okay, so, I made it to Dillard's with handbag in-hand and they were having their sale here too!
And I brought home a new crossbody! Like my new baby girl, girlfriend?!!
Chef Dolores would love to attend one of these trade in events.
We do not have a nearby Dillard's.
Debbie Reynolds that sounds like a wonderful event and isn't it fun to participate?!!
I knew you would have my back Debe Maxwell, CRS !!! We are Brahmin connoisseurs!
I agree Sheri Sperry - MCNE® nothing perks up a day like a new purse or pair of shoes!!
Hello Bob Ratliff so nice to hear from you, you have been absent here in the Rain!
No football in my house anymore, tired of their antics.
Wishing you a wonderful week ahead!
Fabulous Debe Maxwell, CRS and that bag shown is in the beautiful Talisman shade...gorgeous!
Now wait a minute Debe Maxwell, CRS I see two purses in that photo...but I am guessing you bought just the front one, the Samba? You know I have one in that hue too! So gorgeous!
What a shame Roy Kelley as I am sure that Chef Dolores would have enjoyed this event!
Amazing how many department stores have rotating promotional events like this. You never know what you will walk into when you visit one.
So true Kevin Mackessy they seem to be ramping up the Holiday giving season as there are promotions like this regularly now.
